The pink dolphin
Also known as the Amazon dolphin or "Boto", is one of the five species of freshwater dolphins. With three feet long and 125 kg. weight, remains active 24 hours a day, resting only for short periods. The pink color of their skin appears in adult individuals, while the young are blackish gray back and belly a little clearer.
In total about 48 to 68 teeth, has a prominent forehead and malleable, which varies according to their activity, becoming prominent or flat. His eyes are small and light is reduced. Instead of a dorsal fin there is a "hump" wide base that extends throughout the body. The flippers are long, flat and flexible, often with wavy edges. As a particularity, this species has greater mobility than the other dolphins head, giving you the flexibility to maneuver through the many obstacles in the flooded forest.
It is currently threatened by overfishing of their food (fish up to 30 cm. And some shrimp and crabs), pollution of rivers and heavy river traffic in the waters where it lives. Fortunately, this situation is being reversed through the active involvement of companies dedicated to environmental protection. Today, thousands of people around the world are interested in protecting this rare species.
